Wildland Fire Equipment 2024 Catalog
This is the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Wildland Fire Equipment 2024 catalog, a comprehensive supply publication featuring equipment and supplies available through FedMall for wildland fire suppression activities. The catalog is managed by DLA for use by the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, National Park Service, state and local governments, and other Forest Service-sponsored participants in firefighting efforts.
The catalog contains over 400 line items organized by product category, including hand tools (rakes, shovels, mattocks, combination tools), fire suppression equipment (hoses, couplings, nozzles, valves, pumps), personal protective equipment (fire shelters, helmets, goggles, gloves, flame-resistant apparel), water handling accessories, chainsaw equipment, fuel storage containers, batteries, headlamps, first aid kits, protective gear, packs and field equipment, sleeping bags, weather observation kits, ignition devices, aviation equipment, and marking materials. Each item is identified by a 13-digit National Stock Number (NSN) and National Fire Equipment System (NFES) number for requisitioning purposes. Pricing is managed through FedMall (https://www.fedmall.mil) with annual review and updates on October 1 of each fiscal year. Federal customers order directly through FedMall, while state and local customers must prepay using credit cards and utilize a "3B" Activity Address Code mandated for compliance. The catalog provides contact information for 16 regional fire caches nationwide, DLA customer service representatives, and program liaisons for both federal and state/local purchasing support.

About This Catalog
Specification References
The specifications cited in catalog descriptions may undergo a series of revisions (indicated by successive suffix letters) to keep current with industry changes and agency needs. Because it is not feasible to show the latest revision on the catalog publication date, only the basic specification is referenced in this catalog.
Although NSN items are always procured under the latest edition of a specification in effect at the time of procurement, on-hand stock that was procured under a previous edition of a specification will be issued until the supply is depleted.
The National Stock Number
The National Stock Number (NSN) is used for requisitioning, new procurements, existing contracts, shipments, shippers’ invoices, payments, cataloging, stock records, etc.
Accordingly, the items in this catalog are identified by 13-digit NSNs. To obtain items in this catalog, please visit https://www.fedmall.mil/ or call 1-877-DLA-CALL (352-2255).

both designations are the same threads.
• This catalog includes some threads that are specific to the USDA Forest Service and do not follow the NFPA standard. We indicate the threads used on each item.
• The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard calls for ¾” and larger connections to be NH (national standard) threads. The wildland agencies have adopted this, except for ¾” and 1” connections. The ¾” connections shall be ¾” 11-1/2 NH (rather than the NFPA standard of ¾” 7.5 to 8 NH), and 1” shall be NPSH (straight pipe) thread.

Larger Fire Shelter (inches)
Length: 86” 96” Height: 15-1/2” 19-1/2” Width: 31” 33”
Packed Size: 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 x 4” 9 x 5-1/2 x 4”
How Does the Large Shelter Differ from the Regular Shelter?
The large shelter is longer, wider and taller than the regular shelter and weighs about 0.6 lbs. more. The table above shows the dimensions of both shelters. The large version is recommended for firefighters who are taller than 6’1” or whose girth is larger than 53”. Firefighters shorter than 5’7” may have difficulty deploying and holding the large shelter down. The large shelter is easily identified by “LARGE” stenciled on the quick deployment strap. The large shelter’s deployment strap is orange rather than yellow, the color of the strap on the regular shelter.
