About this file

This document is a detailed technical specification (Section 083454) for Forced Entry (FE) and Ballistic Resistant (BR) Door Assemblies for the United States Department of State's Overseas Buildings Operations Bandar Facility Maintenance project. The specification comprehensively outlines requirements for security door assemblies, including detailed provisions for manufacturing, fabrication, materials, performance standards, and installation procedures. Key requirements include doors certified by the Bureau of Diplomatic Security with specific forced-entry and ballistic resistance ratings, precise manufacturing specifications for steel and aluminum doors, mandatory identification labeling, specialized hardware requirements, and rigorous installation guidelines.

The specification covers multiple performance levels for door assemblies, ranging from no resistance rating to high-level protection against forced entry and ballistic threats, with specific government code classifications for fire resistance, forced-entry resistance, and ballistic protection. Manufacturers must meet strict certification standards, provide detailed shop drawings, submit comprehensive documentation, and have a manufacturer's technical representative present during installation. The document is part of the Government Procured Equipment (GPE) Program, which pre-engineers security doors and windows for upcoming projects, with contractors responsible for incorporation, delivery, and installation of these specialized security door assemblies.
