About this file

This document is a Salient Characteristics document for an F-18 Egress Trainer issued by the Department of the Air Force, Headquarters 36th Wing at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The trainer is specifically designed to provide comprehensive training for Fire and Emergency Services personnel, focusing on critical skills such as engine shutdown procedures, hazard identification and mitigation, emergency response actions, and aircrew egress techniques.

The trainer must be a standalone unit with a 70% scale representation of an actual F-18, featuring a single pilot seat, opening canopy, authentic F-18 cockpit controls, and detailed simulations including wing-mounted ordnance (AIM-9 Sidewinder and MK-82 Bomb), simulated engines, and a stainless steel fuselage. Additional required features include folding wings for transportation, lifting lugs on the fuselage, a Liquid Oxygen Compartment, and a Battery Compartment. The primary objective is to build proficiency for both home-station and expeditionary/contingency operations, ensuring firefighters can effectively respond to aircraft emergencies.
