About this file
This document is an attachment specifying the requirements for a new density meter at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) of the Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. The key details are:
The AEDC Chem Lab requires a replacement for one of its two Anton Paar densitometers, which is over 20 years old. The new density meter must have a range of 0-3 g/cm3, operate from 0-100°C, and handle up to 10 bar (145 psi) of pressure. It must meet specific accuracy, repeatability, and reproducibility requirements, as well as comply with ASTM standard D4052. Refurbished or remanufactured parts are not authorized.
This requirement is part of a broader Sources Sought notice issued by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Test Center (AFTC) to identify small and large businesses capable of providing several laboratory instruments, including the density meter, an energy dispersive XRF spectrometer, an automated particle analyzer, and a mobile magnetizing station. Based on the responses, the AFTC may pursue a single-source acquisition, a small business set-aside, or full and open competition.

Specification for Density Meter at Arnold Air Force Base, TN
Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC)
Provide all materials, labor, and equipment necessary to provide a new fully functional Density Meter. Refurbished or remanufactured parts are not authorized for this requirement.
Density for Fuels – Currently the AEDC Chem Lab has two Anton Paar Densitometers, one of which is more than 20 years old. A replacement is required before the antiquated densitometer becomes nonoperational and throughput is compromised. The lab uses two densitometers to maintain required throughput. Density is measured at two different temperatures for each fuel sample. Each densitometer can be set and standardized for the temperature required to improve turnaround time for AEDC test related fuel samples. It would be ideal to have the same densitometer manufacturer for both test temperatures for better comparison for the AEDC test customers. Additionally, AEDC Chemists are acquainted with the software and process of the Anton Paar Densitometers.
Density Meter Specifications:
1. Range: 0 - 3 g/cm3
2. Temperature: 0°C – 100°C
3. Pressure: Up to 10 bar (145 psi) absolute pressure
