STATEMENT OF WORK
Pumping of SST Vaults and Septic Holding Tanks & Rental of Portable Toilet
This contract references multiple human waste disposal sites at Crabtree Falls / Crabtree Meadows (Nelson County, VA) and Sherando Lake Recreation Area (Augusta County, VA). The attached Schedule of Items and Site Maps provide the most specific information about size, quantity and location of all SST vault tanks and Septic system effluent waste tanks.
Request to service specific tanks/vaults will be on a ‘Call When Needed’ basis. Note that there is a variety of size and frequency of visitor use of each toilet facility. Some tanks/vaults will require servicing more than once per year, while other tanks/vaults will not require servicing every year. In general, the SST vaults are reliably pumped 1-2 times per year. In contrast, the Septic holding tanks may go more than a year between servicing. The listed gallon capacity is the maximum the tanks will hold and typical pumping results in 75% of capacity actually being pumped.
The busiest period of use throughout the year tends to be May through October.
This contract also includes the rental and servicing of a portable toilet for the Sherando Lake Entrance Station. One standard portable toilet will be supplied April 1st – October 31st annually. It shall be serviced weekly. Service shall be billed monthly as indicated on the attached Schedule of Items.
General Area Locations:
Crabtree Falls toilets are located at the top of the parking lot on State Highway 56, Montebello, Virginia approximately 12 miles from State Highway 11.
Crabtree Meadows toilet is located at the trailhead parking along State Route 826 approximately 4 miles from State Highway 56. Note that this VA DOT maintained road is not paved but graded gravel.
Sherando Lake Recreation Area entrance is located at 96 State Route 664, Lyndhurst, VA roughly 8 miles from Stuarts Draft, VA. The distance from the main road to the furthest toilet to service is approximately 2 miles.

Partial Tank Pricing:
Due to proximity of multiple tanks/vaults, it may be logistically prudent to pump a ‘partial tank’ in addition to pumping a nearby ‘full tank’. A service call will be requested when a full tank needs service. The additional partial tank will be pumped at the ‘per gallon’ price OR at the ‘max price’, whichever is less. This strategy will only be employed when at least one nearby tank/vault is to be pumped at the full max price.
