1.0 BACKGROUND
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT), Platform and Payload Integration Department (Code 45) has been tasked to build up Tomahawk MK 60 All Up Round Simulators (AURSs). The simulators will be used by the Virginia Class Construction Yards (General Dynamics Electric Boat and Newport News Naval Shipyards) during construction and testing of the Virginia Payload Tube (VPT) and Virginia Payload Module (VPM). The MK 60 AURS simulates all variants of the Composite Capsule Launching System (CCLS) Mod 2 Tomahawk AUR and utilizes all tactical Tomahawk CCLS Mod 2 capsule components that interface with the Ship, Submersible, Guided Missile, Nuclear (SSGN)/VPT/VPM Multiple All Up Round Canister (MAC) and the platform. The MK 60 Mod 2 AURS Capsule Tube Assembly replaces the Mod 1 AURS Capsule and is a critical component of the AURS.
