About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) related to a federal contract opportunity for soil chemical analysis services. The SOW outlines the requirement to conduct soil chemical analysis on samples collected from four study sites in Akron, Colorado and Nebraska as part of dryland cropping system research. The analysis includes 402 soil samples for "Routine Soil Analysis", 195 samples for "Total Nitrogen" analysis, and 195 samples for "Total Organic Carbon" analysis. The period of performance is September 30, 2024 to October 30, 2024, and the samples are to be shipped via UPS regular.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Sources Sought notice (pre-solicitation) for the soil chemical analysis services. The USDA-ARS intends to award a sole source contract to Ward Labs, as the previous data was analyzed there. However, the agency is seeking information from other vendors that may be able to provide similar services with the same technical specifications. Responses to this Sources Sought notice will contribute to determining the method of procurement, which could include a set-aside for small businesses or full and open competition.

Statement of Work
Title: Soil Chemical analysis for collaborative projects within the Dryland cropping system
Requirement: Soil chemical analysis is part of soil health assessment and precision management practices. Soil samples are collected in 2023 from Three Long-Term study sites within the Dryland cropping system and One Precision Management study in Akron, CO.
1. Study locations and duration:
1- Ten (13) years of compost addition in Akron, CO 2- Thirty-three (33) years of Alternative Crop Rotation Study (ACR), Akron, CO 3- Four (4) years of precision agriculture pre-wheat planting phase, Akron, CO
2. Number of samples for various analysis combined from the four study sites (CO and NE):
1- 402 soil samples for “Routine Soil Analysis”.
2- 195 soil samples for “Total Nitrogen” analysis.
3- 195 soil samples for “Total Organic Carbon” analysis.
3. Shipping: UPS-regular.
4. Additional Information:
It is essential to send the samples to the proposed laboratory “Ward Lab” because the previous multiple years of soil analysis for these study sites were analyzed in the proposed lab “Ward lab”.
Sending the samples to a different lab could cause inconsistency with our data due to variability among different labs. The variability among the labs could overshadow the effect of management practices as we compare between the past and the present data analysis.
Period of Performance: (09/30/2024-10/30/2024)
Location:
USDA, ARS, PA
Central Great Plains Resource Management Research
40335 CR GG
Akron, CO 80720
