About this file
This is a Statement of Objectives for the replacement of batteries and capacitors in an Eaton 9390 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system located in Building 237. The primary objective is to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the UPS system by replacing end-of-life batteries and capacitors to mitigate the risk of unexpected system failure. Work must be completed by an Eaton-certified technician, and all potential vendors are required to conduct a mandatory site visit to inspect the existing UPS installation, verify field conditions, and take precise measurements to ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure.
The scope of work includes modernizing the battery system with a new, optimized configuration that reduces the total number of individual batteries while maintaining the capability to support a critical load of 30 kilowatts-amperes (KVA) for a minimum runtime of two hours. All aged capacitors within the Eaton 9390 unit must be proactively replaced to restore the system to original factory specifications. The contractor is responsible for safe removal and proper disposal of old batteries in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Upon completion, the system will undergo full functional testing to validate proper operation and its ability to support the required 30KVA load under simulated power-loss conditions. The successful completion will deliver a fully modernized UPS system with reduced battery count, decreased future cost of ownership, and reduced physical footprint while ensuring continued reliable power for critical systems in Building 237.

Statement of Objective: Building 237 Eaton 9390 UPS Battery and Capacitor Replacement
1.0 Purpose
The primary objective of this project is to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system located in Building 237. This will be achieved by replacing the end-of-life batteries and capacitors for the Eaton 9390 UPS to mitigate the risk of an unexpected system failure.
2.0 Scope of Work
The project will encompass the following key requirements:
• Certification: Work must be complete by Eaton certified technician.
• Mandatory Site Visit: A mandatory site visit is required for all potential vendors to inspect the existing UPS installation, verify field conditions, and take precise measurements. This will ensure any proposed solution is compatible with the existing space and infrastructure.
• Battery System Modernization: The existing batteries have reached their manufacturer-recommended end of life and must be replaced. The project will replace the entire battery bank with a new, optimized configuration. The new design shall reduce the total number of individual batteries required while maintaining the capability to support the critical load of 30KVA for a minimum runtime of two (2) hours.
• Capacitor Replacement: Proactively replace all aged capacitors within the Eaton 9390 unit to restore the system to original factory specifications and prevent potential points of failure.
• Disposal of Existing Batteries: The contractor shall be responsible for the safe removal and proper disposal of all old batteries in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• System Testing and Validation: Upon completion of the installation, the system will undergo a full functional test to validate proper operation and its ability to support the required 30KVA load under simulated power-loss conditions for the specified duration.
3.0 Desired Outcome
Upon successful completion, this project will deliver a fully modernized and more maintainable UPS system. The reduced battery count will decrease the future cost of ownership and the physical footprint, while the new components will ensure continued, reliable, and clean power for all connected critical systems in Building 237 for the required two-hour duration.
