About this file

This document is a Statement of Need for installing a second 24/7 access card reader at the Short Fitness Center. The key requirements are:

The new access card reader must be compatible with the existing Smartnet system and integrated with the current door entry access, surveillance cameras, and DVR systems. It needs to be a standalone Windows 10 system that can authenticate users, including non-CAC holders, without storing PII. The equipment must be approved as a Platform Information Technology (PIT) solution. The contractor must provide installation, training, and 12-month warranty support.

The new reader will be installed at the south entrance to the fitness center to provide access to the larger south parking area, which is popular with runners and Pavilion users. This will alleviate congestion at the single existing entry point. The contract opportunity related to this requirement is a Special Notice for a 24/7 access card reader system for the Short Fitness Center, to be installed by the Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command.

Fitness Center After Hours Access Card Reader Statement of Need

26 Feb 2024

1. Requirement: Install a second 24/7 access card reader is based on customer feedback and suggestions. The Fitness Center currently has one access point to the facility located at the corner of the facility facing the North parking lot. This second reader would be installed at the entrance to the South side of the main lobby and would allow customers to use the South parking area which is significantly larger than the North side parking lot. The South side parking area is popular for users who use the running tracks and the outdoor Pavilion.

2. Characteristics: The reader must be installed by Smartnet and be compatible with the system update we have in place. The reader should be connected to the same system located at the customer service desk and be compatible with the upgraded DVR systems and cameras. The installation will also include 2 system standard cameras that will monitor the lobby area. We do not have cameras monitoring this area now.
