Specifications Valve Actuators
PART 1 GENERAL
1.0 BACKGROUND
Hoover Dam is located approximately nine (9) miles East of Boulder City, Nevada on State Route 172.
The Hoover Dam powerplant has a Turbine Shutoff Valve for every unit, each of which contains a bypass pipe with two 12” motor operated butterfly valve.
1.01 DESCRIPTION
The Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region, Parker Dam Office, has a requirement to purchase eight (8) valve actuators to use for the bypass system.
PART 2 PRODUCT
2.01 Forklift Salient Characteristics
The contractor shall supply new (not remanufactured or used) electric actuators with a remote-control box that meets the following minimum salient characteristics. (One known American made product that meets the requirements is a R5L4-3 model Emerson/EIM M2CP series actuator)
• Electric on/off actuator that can be operated remotely
• Actuator must be compatible with a 12-inch A-T Controls Power-Seal Hp 300# Lug Butterfly
Valve
• Actuator enclosure must be dust tight and waterproof to a depth of at least 40 feet
• Actuator must be suited for a maximum torque load of 17500 in-lbs
• Motor uses 480VAC/3PH (three phase AC power)
• Control uses 110VAC/1PH (single phase AC power)
• Ensure the valve is still able to be operated manually with a bare stem operator when the actuator is installed
• The selected actuators must comply with the Buy American Act (BAA), including all components used in the actuator assembly.
PART 3 DELIVERY
1) Delivery shall be 45 days after receipt of award.
2) Shipping, Storage, & Protection
a. Comply with manufacturer's installation instructions for rigging, unloading, and transporting units. Unit shall be stored and handled per manufacturer’s instructions.
b. Protect units from physical damage. protect all parts/equipment from corrosion, deformation, dents, dings, scratches, ruptures, breaks, punctures, abrasions, cuts, and other types of damage during storage, handling, transport, and delivery.
c. No ownership until received at the facility.
d. Delivery will be accepted between the hours of 07:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Pacific Time, Monday- Friday.
e. Delivery shall be scheduled for a minimum of 1 week in advance with the following
