About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details the procurement of a single accessible vault toilet for the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge's Migrant's Mile Trail in Alden, Kansas. The project requires delivering and installing a pre-engineered, prefabricated vault toilet with a 750-gallon precast ABS-lined concrete holding tank, to be placed approximately 50 feet west of an existing handicapped parking pad. The facility must meet current ADA and ABA accessibility guidelines, featuring stainless steel risers, grab bars, wall vents, signs, a steel galvanized door with deadbolt locks, and exterior finishes including a metal roof, stone wainscot, and shiplap-style siding.

The technical contacts are Kate Brenner (Refuge Manager) and Quentin Parker (Wildlife Refuge Specialist), both reachable at 620-410-4011. The installation will include site preparation, excavation, backfilling, compacting, restroom placement, and final grading to ensure proper drainage. The vault toilet structure is specified with detailed requirements for interior walls, window, trim, vault cleanout door, and other components, with an emphasis on durability, accessibility, and aesthetic integration with the natural wildlife refuge environment. The project aims to replace a failing existing vault toilet and provide improved facilities for refuge visitors.
