Statement of Objectives Amplifier for Low Cost Emitter Demonstrator
6‐15‐21
Unique amplifier being sought after to incorporate into an existing emissions device. The emissions device is essentially a power source, software defined radio, mixer/synthesizer, and amplifier feeding signal to an antenna. Specific end state requirements under consideration are Size, Weight, and Power
(SWaP) in order to integrate into the current system configuration.
Specifics:
‐ Solid state amplifier, broadband (8 ‐ 12 GHz), no external cooling sources required (e.g. liquid cooling, air conditioner, or otherwise)
‐ Operate at least to a 10% duty cycle (if greater is ok)
‐ Power output: 500 watts minimum
‐ Power input: Driver amp input no greater than 19dbm (based on existing pre‐amp)
‐ Connections: SMA or N‐Type preferred
‐ Antenna integration: Current antenna is parabolic dish with N‐type connection and max power rating of 400W continuous wave.
‐ Power supply: Provided from a power supply within the electronic project box and should not exceed
48v DC;
‐ Size: Small enough to integrate into existing electrical box (inside dimensions: H 18 ¼”, W 14 ¼”, D 6 ¾”); or weatherized and externally mounted
‐ Weight: Should not exceed 20 lbs
‐ Integration: Require vendor to install and integrate amplifier into current design for experimental demonstration. Government will provide one fully operational system to vendor for evaluation and integration of Solid state amplifier. Integration by vendor is required in order to ensure compatibility of software/hardware of original prototype with new amplifier.
‐ Testing: Vendor will perform bench testing on system prior to amplifier integration noting performance characteristics and compare with testing results following new amplifier installation. The transmitted signal should remain the same with increased power (500W min)
‐ Upon completion, vendor will provide a fully‐operational system to government with integrated amplifier producing the same signal with a power output of ≥ 500W from the transmitter.
‐ Delivery: A Government representative will personally deliver the existing emissions device to the winning contractor for integration purposes. When complete, the Government representative will return to the contractor’s place of business to verify operation, and receive operating instructions.
