About this file
This document is a specification sheet listing minimum salient characteristics for a Wire Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) Drill for the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). The required machine must drill through hardened materials with specific travel capabilities (X > 11.5", Y > 7.8", Z > 12"), support a workpiece of 8"x8"x8" up to 400 lbs, and have at least 3 axes of motion. Additional requirements include an electrode diameter range of 0.012" to 0.120", compatibility with 208V/3 phase power, digital display system, and comprehensive accessory package including chucks, guides, seals, and electrodes.
The solicitation is a 100% small business set-aside under NAICS code 333517 with a 500-employee size standard. Key procurement details include delivery, installation, and initial training at USAFA, a minimum 1-year manufacturer's warranty, and compliance with the Buy American Statute. Notable notes specify that rigging is only required for components over 3,500 lbs, USAFA will handle electrical support, and rotary positioning is not needed. The opportunity has a question submission deadline of 12 June 2025 at 4:00 p.m. MDT and a quote submission deadline of 17 June 2025 at 4:00 p.m. MDT, with a caveat that funds are not currently available and the government reserves the right to cancel the solicitation.
