About this file

This is a Project Manual prepared by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) for repair and improvement work on the Round Bluff Hiking Trail at Ferne Clyffe State Park. The project encompasses trail restoration and enhancement activities designed to improve the hiking experience and ensure safe passage along the designated trail system. The manual provides detailed specifications, technical requirements, and construction standards that contractors must follow to complete the work in compliance with state standards and environmental guidelines. Site conditions, trail layout, existing infrastructure assessment, and environmental considerations are documented to guide contractor planning and execution. The project scope includes trail surface repairs, drainage improvements, erosion control measures, and structural enhancements as needed to restore the trail to functional condition and enhance visitor safety and accessibility.

The Project Manual establishes the technical and contractual framework governing bid submission, contractor qualifications, work standards, material specifications, and quality assurance requirements. Contractors must adhere to all specifications outlined in the manual, including provisions for environmental protection, safety compliance, and inspection protocols throughout project execution. The manual serves as the binding reference document for all work performed and establishes the performance standards against which contractor work will be evaluated and accepted by IDNR.
