About this file

This attachment outlines optional litter and debris removal services that the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) may add to an existing landscaping services contract. The MBTA is seeking contractor services to maintain clean, safe, and accessible outdoor areas at designated MBTA stations and facilities during the winter months (December 1st through March 31st), complementing landscaping services already provided during the April 1st through November 30th period. The scope includes litter removal from walkways, ramps, stairs, platforms, bicycle racks, landscaping beds, and other designated outdoor areas, along with proper waste disposal according to MBTA guidelines and applicable regulations. Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, on a monthly basis or as-needed basis upon written request from the MBTA Contracting Officer, with contractors proposing a weekly service schedule ensuring all stations are cleaned at least once per month or more frequently upon MBTA request. Bidders must provide pricing and describe their approach for performing the outlined tasks.

The contractor is responsible for supplying all necessary equipment, tools, bags, gloves, and litter-picking devices, as well as managing appropriate disposal containers since the MBTA will not provide dedicated trash receptacles. Key staffing requirements include designating an Account Director as primary point of contact who must be available during service hours and meet weekly with the MBTA Contracting Officer, along with qualified on-site supervisors and adequate personnel with appropriate training in safety practices and hazard recognition. Contractors must submit weekly service confirmations by 5:00 PM Wednesday detailing locations serviced, dates, times, tasks completed, photo documentation, and the following week's service plans, as well as monthly reports no later than the 15th day following each month's end. The MBTA will monitor performance through routine inspections and may require corrective action within 24 hours of notification for any deficiencies, with the contractor responsible for reimbursing the MBTA for any damage to infrastructure or equipment caused during service delivery. Monthly invoicing should include a breakdown per work area with dates, services performed, and total amounts due.
