Demolition shall be defined as the complete demolition/removal and offsite disposal of identified structures, utility systems and components and rail track (to include rail accessory items and ties and related components) within a 75 foot radius of the center of the item called out to be demolished.
The 75 foot radius shall be a clean up of the surrounding area. All visible items shall be identified, demolished and removed from site. Examples include lose and embedded metal, elevated concrete, abandoned equipment, poles and electrical/mechanical systems in and around the specified demo sites.
Demolition of structures shall be brought to existing finished grade. Concrete footings (at least 8” below grade) shall remain. Foundation walls shall be demolished to 8” below grade or removed. Concrete slabs at grade shall remain (as well as the associated footings/foundation wall). All excavations and holes within 75’ identified as the center of the demo site shall be filled with #2 crushed rock and brought to grade.
Site Map with Railroad Tracks
Railroad Tracks Length of Single Track: 4013 lf + or – 10%, verify in the field Length of Double Track: 1742 lf + or – 10%, verify in the field Remove rails, ties and related railroad track accessory items. All rail road demolished materials shall be removed from the site.
The contract limit line for site clean (examples include lose and embedded metal, concrete, abandoned equipment, poles and electrical/mechanical systems) shall be:
Single Track: 20’ from the center line of the track, both directions.
Double Track: determine the center line between the two sets of tracks and extend out 30’, both directions.
The rail bed shall be defined as the existing stone tie ballast full width.
Where track intersects chain link fence, provide a swing gate system the full width of the railroad bed.
Remove all trees and vegetation from the rail bed. Trees and vegetation shall be relocated to the town water tower area and stockpiled on-site.
The rail bed existing ballast stone shall be graded smooth to infill all rail tie and tree/vegetation holes.
