About this file

This document is a technical specification for a quarters housing roof replacement project at the Trapper Creek Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Montana. The project involves replacing roofs on Buildings 29 and 30 with standing seam metal roofs, including removal of existing asphalt shingles, installation of new underlayment, drip edges, flashing, and metal roofing panels. An optional sheathing replacement item allows for replacement of one 4'x8' sheet if identified during inspection. The specifications include detailed requirements for metal roof panels (24-gauge metallic-coated steel with fluoropolymer finish), underlayment materials, fasteners, and accessories, with colors to be selected by the Contracting Officer.

The project requires compliance with International Code Council codes, NFPA standards, and manufacturer installation instructions. Key schedule requirements include a pre-construction conference within 10 days of award, bonds within 10 days, submittals within 12 days of Notice to Proceed, and various warranty provisions including a 20-year No Dollar Limit roofing system warranty. Work hours are restricted to 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Monday through Friday, with the government occupying the site during construction. The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, and proper disposal of removed materials, while coordinating with the Center Point of Contact to minimize disruption to ongoing Job Corps operations.

Extend underlayment into gutter trough. Roll laps with roller.

B. Felt Underlayment: Install felt underlayment over entire roof deck including self-ad-hering sheet underlayment. Use adhesive for temporary anchorage. Apply in shingle fashion to shed water, with lapped joints of not less than 2 inches.

6. Lap metal flashing over metal roof panels to allow moisture to run over and off the material.

7. Install roof panels such that the wind blows over the lap side joints and not into the side lap joints.

B. Fasteners: Use stainless-steel fasteners for surfaces exposed to the exterior and galva-nized steel fasteners for surfaces exposed to the interior.

C. Metal Protection: Where dissimilar metals will contact each other or corrosive sub-strates, protect against galvanic action by painting contact surfaces with bituminous coating, by applying rubberized-asphalt underlayment to each contact surface, or by other permanent separation as recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer.
