1. SCOPE AND BACKGROUND

1.1. Scope

This Soldier Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS) technical support services contract includes Engineering, Test, Validation, Verification, and Maintenance Sustainment related requirements for the Rucksack Portable Unmanned Aircraft System (RPUAS) Program. United States (U.S.) Military Forces and other Governmental Agencies employ SUAS in demanding mission profiles under diverse environmental conditions.

The U.S. Army Group I Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) inventory is comprised of Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR), Medium Range Reconnaissance (MRR), and Long Range Reconnaissance (LRR) aircraft as well as the Handheld Ground Control Station (H-GCS) utilizing Tactical Open Government-owned Architecture (TOGA).

Additionally, this need requires various technical, logistics, and program management to support SUAS research and development.

1.2. Background

1.2.1. The SUAS Product Office (PdO) oversees program management of Group I SUAS, the RQ-11B Raven and RQ-20A Puma, along with a Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) Air Vehicle (i.e., quadcopter-like SUAS).

1.2.3. The SUAS PdO currently does not operate Group II UAS.

1.2.4. The SUAS PdO is actively involved with other entities and industry in order to capitalize on new capabilities and emerging technologies. Non-Standard SUAS systems loaned, leased, or acquired through such partnerships shall require support.

1.2.5. Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, 35898 is the SUAS PdO official duty station as defined in 5 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 550.112(j) and 551.422(d).

1.2.6. There is a need to support the existing fleet of SUAS RQ-11B Raven (legacy and upgraded MRR), RQ-20A Puma, the H-GCS systems, and maintain compatibility with new SRR and LRR systems.
