About this file

This is a Memorandum documenting salient characteristics for a federal Additive Manufacturing (AM)/3D printer system solicitation, dated 24 August 2026.

The requirement is for a 3D printer system capable of manufacturing parts, tools, fixtures, and prototypes using Fused Disposition Modeling with thermoplastics, specifically supporting materials including TPU-92, Nylon Carbon Fiber, and elastomer materials to fulfill military-grade fitting requirements at home-station and deployed/austere locations. Minimum specifications include: operating power of 110-120V/50-60Hz not exceeding 20 amps on a standard outlet; maximum machine size of 72 x 36 x 36 inches; minimum build area of 10 x 10 x 10 inches with maximum of 16 x 16 x 16 inches; fully heated and enclosed build chamber; model and support material auto changeover capability; layer printing capability between 0.005 and 0.013 inches; dimension accuracy of ±0.200 mm or ±0.002 mm per mm, whichever is greater; secondary breakaway and soluble support material; heated build plates with adhesion aids; capability for solid fill, sparse high density, or sparse low density infill; exchangeable extrusion tips; dedicated print heads for thermoplastics, carbon fiber, and elastomer materials; and onboard calibration capability. The system must support printing in ABS, ABS-Carbon Fiber, ASA, PC-ABS, Nylon Carbon Fiber, Nylon Thermoplastic mineral-filled, and TPU materials. Additional requirements include warranty information, licensed file processing software, training for minimum four individuals, machine start-up and assembly services, optional dedicated print heads, and an initial consumable kit with specified filaments, support materials, build sheets, and print heads, plus availability of additional consumable and raw material components.
