About this file

This is a set of maps and photographs documenting the K-Mountain Pipeline Reconstruction project location in the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The pipeline originates from headboxes within a wooden jackleg fence enclosure in the Kadletz Creek drainage at 6,473' elevation and traverses approximately 7,443 total feet through three distinct segments.

The documents show aerial views, topographical maps, and ground-level photographs of the pipeline route and three trough locations. The first segment runs 2,025 feet from the headbox through Douglas fir timber to the first trough at 6,200' elevation. The second segment continues 3,618 feet through open sagebrush/grassland to the second trough at 6,140' elevation. The final segment extends 1,800 feet to the third trough and pipeline termination at 6,071' elevation. The photographs detail the headbox enclosure, pipeline origin area, and all three trough locations, with the troughs consisting of wooden-framed water collection structures positioned along the descending elevation gradient.

K-Mountain Pipeline Reconstruction

The pipeline originates from headboxes within a wooden jackleg fence enclosure in the Kadletz Creek drainage at 6,473’ in elevation.

The pipeline climbs out of the shallow drainage to the bench, and then follows the bench downslope to the first trough location, which is located approximately 2025 feet from the headbox, at an elevation of 6200’. The pipeline generally follows an old two-track road through a Douglas fir timber stand. At the first trough location, the pipeline emerges into open sagebrush/grassland and remains in that vegetation type for the remainder of the pipeline. The second trough location is approximately 3618 feet further, at an elevation of 6,140’. The final trough location and termination of the pipeline is approximately 1800 feet further, at an elevation of 6,071’.
