Statement of Work Lorton Multi-use Pavilion Structure
PART 1. GENERAL
1.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This contract is for the construction of a shade structure at the Lower Potomac Field Station, Meadowood Recreation Site. The final location is currently proposed at the Mustang Loop trail head. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) requires design, supply, assembly, and installation of a shade structure at the Lower Potomac Field Station, Meadowood Recreation Site. The overall purpose of the contract is to provide protection from the elements during winter and also supply shade during the summer months.
1.1 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Prefabricated metal, wood, or hybrid shelter/pavilion.

1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. The pavilion is proposed to be 80’x180’ with an eave height of 16’ and a structure height not to exceed 30’.
B. Design Loads: The design shall meet all the requirements of the latest Uniform Building Code in addition to all applicable specifications. The basic design loads shall include live, wind, and seismic in addition to the dead load. All other design loads, whether they be of static, dynamic, or kinetic, shall be considered as auxiliary loads.
a) Roof covering shall be designed for either 50 psf uniformly distributed or a 200-pound concentration load location at center of maximum panel span. The most severe conditions shall govern.
b) Purlins shall be designed for 40 psf uniformly distributed over the roof area which they support.
c) Primary framing shall be designed for 40 psf uniformly distributed over the roof area which it supports.
d) Roof covering, purlins and the primary framing at major roof projections shall be designed for snow load accumulation of 40 psf.
C. Design Method: per applicable building code.
D. Structure and footings shall be designed by a licensed structural engineer considering local conditions including the Geotech soil report.
E. 10’ minimum distance around the pavilion shall be graded so that water will drain away from the pavilion.
1.5 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit two (2) sets of shop drawings.
1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE: Provide evidence of commitment of quality craftsmanship as demonstrated by the following A. Supplier Qualifications B. Certifications C. Professional Licensure
1.7 DELIVERY AND STORAGE
A. Vendor will be responsible for all B. Unload materials with necessary equipment, store materials and equipment in a designated area. Equipment and materials that may be compromised by exposure to direct sunlight or other elements should be covered. Inspect parts within 48 hours of delivery, compare with manufacturer’s bill of materials, and report any missing or non-conforming parts to the manufacturer within this time.
C. Contractor shall be responsible for all necessary concrete, materials, electric, water, toilets, engineering and labor per schedule.
D. Debris and trash shall be removed from site during clean up after structure is completed and properly disposed of off-site in an approved disposal site outside of BLM Land.
1.9 GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Complete an environmental assessment of the facility prior to the construction or installation of the pavilion.
2.1 MATERIALS
| A. Structural Framing: Structural framing shall consist of structural steel. |

| D. Final color of the pavilion will be selected from BLM’s Standard Environmental Color Chart. |
2.2 FABRICATION
A. All columns, trusses, beams, and tension members shall be prefabricated, off-site.
B. Factory welded connections shall be made by certified welders in accordance with AWS specifications and be supervised by an AWS certified welding inspector.
PART 3. CONSTRUCTION
3.1 EXECUTION
A. Installation will be in accordance to the manufacturer’s engineering specification instructions.
B. When unloading, padded forks and other precautions to protect finished materials will be used. Field handle the material carefully to avoid damage construction materials.
3.2 PLACE OF DELIVERY
A. The shipment shall be delivered, unloaded, stacked by the contractor at the following location as directed by the COR.
