Questions & Answers
Q.1) Is there sitework associated with the construction of the Pavilion?
A.1) No, sitework beyond the 10 ft perimeter of the pavilion is no included in this scope of work.
Q.2) Is there an existing concrete pad at the proposed site of the pavilion?
A.2) No, there is no concrete pad at the pavilion location. The soil at the pavilion location is however covered by approximately 4 inches of compacted stone dust that has vegetation growing through. The specifications will be amended to reflect this change.
Q.3) Are there already drawings or a basis of design for the pavilion and foundation?
A.3) No, there are no drawings for the pavilion structure or the foundation. Drawings should be provided either by the in-house engineering staff or the pavilion manufacturer.
Q.4) Will there be a laydown area at the project site.
A.4) There is no officially designated laydown area at the site, however the graveled area at Mustang Loop or at the main office building off of Gunston Road.
Q.5) Who is responsible for surveying the corners of the pavilion?
A.5) BLM will establish reference points for the pavilion corners based on existing monuments at the Meadowood Mustang Loop.
Q.6) What is the final top of elevation for the concrete pad of the pavilion?
A.6) The final top of grading elevation will be established by BLM and will be based off of the adjacent Gunston Road.
Q.7) What type of stormwater management actions are needed?
A.7) The contract work area only extends to approximately 10 ft around the edge of the pavilion which will have a minimum slope of 0.4% (0.004ft/1ft) away from the pavilion with grading blended with the contours of the adjacent environments.
Q.8) What will the bid be handled without the geotechnical survey informing the final depth of the helical piles?
A.8) A sample helical pier dimension of 25 feet for depth, an outside shaft diameter of 3 inches, and plate diameters of 14 inches shall be used as a base assumption. If a modification from the sample helical pier dimension is needed, the Variation Clause will be implemented allowing for an equitable adjustment to be made for the cost pending supporting data from the geotechnical investigation.
Q.9) This building will require wind bracing. Is x-bracing acceptable or should wind bracing be portal frames?
A.9) Wind bracing should be accounted for in portal frames to the maximum extent possible.
Q.10) Is there a preference of eave overhang?
A.10) Overhangs should not drop below the eave height of 16 ft. Eave overhang should be limited to maintain a proportionate appearance for the overall structure.

Q.11) Is a column spacing of 25’ acceptable?
A.11) Column spacings of 25’ along the length of the pavilion. Column spacing along the interior of the pavilion should be minimized to allow for ease of access and movement of animals during events.
