About this file

This document is an Attachment 4 Salient Characteristics section from a Request for Quote (RFQ) FA2823-25-Q-0063 for Surgical Lights. The requirement is for two surgical light setups: one boom with a single light head and another with a dual light head. The surgical lights must have specific technical requirements including adjustable illumination intensity ranging from 45-160 klx at different distances, an adjustable light field diameter, and shadow reduction capabilities.

The lights must have precise positioning features, including 360-degree rotation around the vertical axis, a +/- 45-degree tilt range, and a counterbalanced arm system for smooth movement. The control panel must be intuitive with clearly labeled buttons or a touch screen interface and a backlit display for visibility in a darkened operating room. The specification emphasizes ease of use for surgical staff, with smooth intensity adjustments, stable positioning, and locking mechanisms to maintain the desired light configuration.

Surgical Light Salient Characteristics

Light, Surgical (Qty 2)

• Two surgical light setups to include one boom with a single light head and another boom with a dual light head.

• Illumination Intensity:

o Must provide adjustable light intensity within a range of:

(6.3”) 160 klx (10”) 80 klx-144 klx (11.8”) 45 klx-90 klx o The intensity range must be adjustable in smooth, incremental steps, not just discrete jumps. The adjustment mechanism must be easily accessible and intuitive for surgical staff.

• Light Field Diameter:

o The light field diameter must be adjustable to accommodate different surgical field sizes.

o Adjustable diameter range with a clearly defined and easily manipulated adjustment mechanism.

• Shadow Reduction:

o The light must minimize shadows cast by surgical personnel or instruments.

• Light Head Positioning:

o The light head must be easily and precisely positioned to direct light onto the surgical field.

360-degree rotation of the light head around the vertical axis.

Tilt range of at least +/- 45 degrees.

Smooth and stable movement, with locking mechanisms to maintain the desired position.

Arm system must be counterbalanced for easy adjustment and minimal drift.

• Control Panel:

o Requirement: Intuitive and easy-to-use control panel for adjusting light intensity.

o Specifics:

Clearly labeled buttons or touch screen interface.

Backlit display for easy visibility in a darkened operating room.
