About this file

This is an Addendum #1 to an Advertisement for Bids issued by Rusk County, Wisconsin for asbestos abatement and building demolition services at a former nursing home/hospital located at 900 College Ave. in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. The addendum provides clarifications and additional information regarding project scope and options for contractors to consider in their bids.

The addendum addresses four key items: estimated monthly utility expenses (electric costs averaging $2,000-$2,500 and water/sewer costs averaging $1,900), clarification that contractors should assume all foundations are positive for asbestos and require proper disposal procedures, and two optional approaches for site remediation that contractors may propose in their bids. These options include using crushed concrete and masonry as backfill material instead of imported sand if materials are confirmed clean, and potentially using crushed concrete or masonry as erosion barriers instead of seed and topsoil for future site redevelopment. The County recommends that contractors include these alternatives as bid options to provide flexibility and potentially reduce project costs through material reuse and waste diversion strategies.
