About this file

This is a sample state bid bond form document provided by the State of Colorado for use in the Carpios Ridge Restroom Replacement project (C26TR1). The form serves as a template for bidders to understand the bonding requirements and format expected for submission with their proposals. The bid bond is a standard financial instrument required to accompany bids on public construction projects, ensuring that bidders have the financial capacity and commitment to enter into a contract should their bid be selected for award.

The sample form establishes the structure and language that bidders must follow when obtaining their bid bonds from surety companies. It typically includes provisions identifying the obligor (bidder), the obligee (the State of Colorado or relevant local jurisdiction), and the penal sum amount that the bond must cover, usually calculated as a percentage of the total bid amount. The document outlines the conditions under which the bond may be forfeited, including scenarios where a successful bidder fails to execute the contract or provide required performance and payment bonds. This template ensures consistency across all bids received and clarifies bonding expectations prior to the bidding process.
