About this file
The file Appendix_A_-_Safe_Clean_Water_Program_Reference_Documents_Brookside.pdf is a reference document related to the Brookside Park Stormwater Capture Project, a collaborative effort led by the City of Pasadena in California. The project aims to develop a comprehensive stormwater management solution within the Arroyo Seco subwatershed and the Upper Los Angeles River watershed, focusing on diverting and treating dry weather and stormwater flows from the historic Seco Street drain. The proposed design includes an 11 acre-feet subsurface infiltration unit located beneath an existing parking lot at 360 N Arroyo Boulevard, with the goal of capturing, treating, and recharging over 300 acre-feet of water into the Raymond Basin.
The project site, a 475,820 square foot parcel, is currently a parking lot serving the City, Rose Bowl, Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, Kidspace, and the community. The stormwater capture system will incorporate secondary treatment best management practices (BMPs), including bioretention cells, enhanced tree canopy, and vegetated bioswales. The drainage area covers approximately 1,166 acres, predominantly within Pasadena. Design considerations must account for potential materials, debris, and deposits from the site's historical floodplain origins. The project represents a significant regional effort to reduce pollutant loads, particularly bacteria and other priority pollutants, in the Arroyo Seco and downstream Los Angeles River ecosystems.
