About this file
This document is a geotechnical site investigation report consisting of a test location diagram and generalized subsurface profile for Building 42 Additions & Renovations in Salisbury, North Carolina.
The test location diagram (Drawing CH09.0088.GE-1, dated November 23, 2009) depicts the approximate locations of geotechnical investigations conducted at the site, including asphalt core samples, soil test borings, and soft digs. The generalized subsurface profile (Drawing CH09.0088.GE-2, dated November 11, 2009) presents eight exploratory boring logs (B-1 through B-8) at a vertical scale of 1" = 80" and horizontal scale of 1" to 5", showing soil stratigraphy to depths ranging from approximately 10 feet to 35 feet below grade. The subsurface profile identifies soil conditions including topsoil/asphalt/stone layers, silty clay, silty sand/clayey sand, clayey silt/sandy silt, very clayey silt, and partially weathered rock, along with existing fill materials. The logs indicate groundwater conditions, boring termination depths, and water table observations recorded at 1-hour and 24-hour intervals. Prepared by Geoscience Group, Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina, these geotechnical investigation results provide subsurface characterization necessary for foundation and structural design of the proposed building additions and renovations.
