About this file
This document contains details for a federal contract solicitation to conduct tree remeasurement and maintenance at two forestry research sites. The solicitation seeks a contractor to remeasure tree diameters and heights at the Matlock site near Shelton, Washington and the Molalla site near Molalla, Oregon. Both sites are part of an ongoing study examining the productivity of planted Douglas fir in response to woody debris manipulation and vegetation control. The work includes remeasuring 3,747 trees 20 years after initial measurement. The document provides driving directions and maps to each site location, as well as damage codes and criteria for assessing tree crown vigor to guide the remeasurement work. The solicitation was issued by the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service.

Appendix A - LIST OF ATTACHMENTS
The following attachments are made a part of this solicitation and any resultant contract.
Title
Attachment 1-4 – Driving directions, GPS site coordinates, and Plot Maps
Attachment 5 – Damage and Crown Vigor Codes
Attachment 1. Recommended route to Matlock
Directions to Matlock Site:
Take US 101 North towards Shelton. Take the Shelton exit for WA 102 and head west towards Matlock. At the Matlock crossroads (intersection of Matlock-Shelton Road and W. Beeville Road), continue west (straight) for 1.9 miles until you see a large “green-tree” retention area on left. Enter the Green Diamond gate on left (need a key). Follow road for a mile and turn right at gravel pit to enter study site. The other access point is to not turn right at gravel pit, but instead take the next right.
Attachment 2. Matlock site map Attachment 3. Recommended route to Molalla
Directions to Molalla Site:
Take I-5 south to I-205; take exit 12A (OR Highway 224) to Estacada. In Estacada, take OR Highway 211 approximately 5 miles; turn left on Hillockburn Road. Head up the hill and stay on the main road. After you pass a large Christmas tree farm on left, look for a crossroads (Habelt Road and Hillockburn Road); turn right. Enter Port Blakely gate (need a key). Stay on main gravel road until you break out over a main ridge into a new watershed (about 1.5 miles). Road to site is next sharp left going uphill.
Alternate route to Molalla Site: Continue an additional 1.5 miles on Hillockburn Road past the intersection with Habelt Road. Enter first Port Blakely gate encountered (right side of road). Cross the creek and stay right; stay right past the large clearcut on the left; cross the alder buffer strip and continue uphill. At the crest, take the 2nd left turn and this road ultimately joins the other road system.
