About this file

This document contains Answers to Questions Submitted regarding an Open Market Bid from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) for Floating Pond Covers for the Klamath Hatchery Upper Reservoir. ODFW is seeking fourteen 40 mil. HDPE floating panels measuring 7.2 feet wide and 49.5 feet long. The panels must be removable and installable by a crew of four, and an anchoring system using cables is required. ODFW has provided a rough layout of the panel arrangement and indicated that timing for installation is flexible, as they may not be able to install the covers until next summer due to weather and fish management needs.

Regarding pricing and other details, the document indicates that no ballast is required and does not mention any set-asides or incumbent contractors. ODFW has a preference for closed-cell foam for buoyancy, but has not specified a required thickness. The project is funded by the state of Oregon, and the shipping address is the Klamath Fish Hatchery in Chiloquin, Oregon.

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS SUBMITTED

Open Market Bid S-63500-00011812

Floating Pond Covers for Klamath Hatchery Upper Reservoir

- Do the MIC panels need to be removable? Or can we weld 2,3 or 4 at a time?

The panels must be able to be taken out and reinstalled by a crew of four.

- Foam thickness? Do you have a preference on foam material?

A closed cell foam is preferred. There isn’t a specific thickness we are looking for as long as it is buoyant enough to catch seasonal leaves and small environmental debris.

- Will you need ballast tubes to hold the MIC panels down? If so, please provide ballast dimensions and desired weight?

No ballast is required.

- Method of anchoring: cables tied to a post? Or flap (skirt) material anchored to a trench?

Cables capable of being tied to a post, tree, or anchoring block.

- Please provide a layout showing how the 14 MIC panels will be arranged? Hand sketch or photo is fine.

See attachments for roughly drawn picture (not to scale). A more detailed and accurate picture may be added as an attachment at the beginning of next week.

- Is timing flexible?

Yes. We may not be able to install them until next summer due to the weather and upcoming fish management needs.
