About this file
This document is a solicitation amendment for a contract issued by the State Historical Society of North Dakota for pallet rack storage shelving. The amendment clarifies and revises the original solicitation details, including the weight capacity requirements for the beams and the option to submit wire decking as an alternative to the originally specified materials. The solicitation requests bids for 113 frame/upright units, 340 96-inch beams, and 8 48-inch beams, all of which must be able to support at least 5,000 pounds. It also includes options for 172 sheets of MDF/plywood/particle board and 688 lumber boards or 172 wire mesh shelves. The bids are due on January 6, 2020, and the required delivery date is February 3, 2019.
The amendment provides detailed responses to 11 questions submitted by potential bidders, covering topics such as material specifications, delivery requirements, and pricing. The solicitation will be awarded by group, and bidders may bid on whichever group they prefer. There is no specific color requirement, and installation is not required. Bidders are instructed to acknowledge receipt of the amendment and provide pricing information on the provided response sheet.

SOLICITATION AMENDMENT 1
December 30, 2019
Solicitation Number: 701.2019.3 Title: Pallet Rack Storage Shelving Deadline for Receipt of Bids: January 6, 2020, 2 p.m. CT Solicitation Issued: December 16, 2019
The Request for Quote established a Deadline for Submission of Questions and Requests for Clarification.
The responses, including any necessary amendments, are as follows:
1. Question: Please provide clarification on how much weight each beam level needs to hold. On the 96" and 48" beams.
Response: There will be two beam levels, each assembled beam level must support a minimum of 5,000 pounds.
No amendment necessary.
2. Question: How many beam levels are going on each upright?
Response: Minimum of 2 levels on each upright, some may have 3 levels.
3. Question: Is install required?
Response: Install is not required.
4. Question: Are you interested in wire decking to go on the units?
Response: We wrote the bid for solid decking due to our concern with things like chair and table legs falling through the gaps of the wire decking. The majority of the objects being placed on the decking will be furniture for which we need solid footing. We do not want to cause any damage to our artifacts. That being said, we would consider wire decking depending on the wire gauge, spacing of the wires, and price. Wire shelves/decking must fit with the other shelving beams and uprights requested in Group 1.
Amendment: Specs are amended to include an option to submit wire decking as an alternative to MDF/Plywood/Particle Board. Please see revised
5. Question: What are you storing on the levels?
Response: The majority of the objects being placed on the decking will be furniture. We do not want to cause any damage to our artifacts.
6. Question: Could you please send last awarded unit price to us for reference?
Response: No, we have not made a similar award previously.
7. Question: Is this bid one-time delivery?
Response: Yes.
8. Question: Could you tell us the specific material of the quoted product?
Response: High strength tubular steel framing for uprights and beams. Uprights must have built-in braces for extra strength. Medium-density fibreboard (MDF)/Plywood/Particle Board (MDF preferred) and Lumber. We reiterate, it is imperative the assembled shelving must be able to support at least 5,000 pounds.
Amendment: Specs are amended to include: High strength tubular steel framing for uprights and beams. Uprights must have built-in braces for extra strength.
9. Question: Could you send pictures or samples of the quotation product for my reference?
Response: Pictures are unavailable as we do not have photographic rights to any brand/make/model of similar shelving.
10. Question: Do we have to bid on the lumber?
Response: No. Awards will be made by group. Bidders may bid on whatever group they prefer.
11. Question: Is there a certain color needed?
Response: There is no specific color needed.
Questions regarding this amendment must be submitted in writing to the Procurement Officer.
