About this file
This document is Amendment 1 for a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the Kansas Office of Procurement and Contracts for Larned State Hospital, specifically addressing a solicitation for Bulk and Bagged Water Softener Salt (Event Number EVT0010194). The amendment provides clarifications through a question and answer format, with key details including delivery requirements for bulk salt (which must be dumped into a pit) and bagged salt (preferably 40-60 pound bags, palletized for loading dock delivery). The procurement covers salt specifications requiring food grade wash certificates, compliance with American Water Works Association Standard B200-17, and NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 60 certification. Historical ordering data indicates an average annual procurement of 120 tons of bulk salt and 882 bags of pellets, with a specific preference for Minicube with Rustbuster for bulk salt.
The amendment outlines specific product quality requirements, including mandatory documentation such as Certificates of Analysis for each salt load, and provides insights into the state's expectations for vendor performance. Bidders must submit a signed copy of the amendment with their proposal and are advised to regularly monitor the procurement website for updates. The document emphasizes the vendor's responsibility to meet precise technical specifications, demonstrate product quality through certifications, and provide flexible delivery options that align with Larned State Hospital's operational needs. The procurement approach allows for comprehensive evaluation of salt suppliers based on product quality, delivery capabilities, and adherence to specified standards.
