About this file
This document is an amendment containing questions and answers for Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 240000002755 issued by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) for an underbridge inspection platform on a trailer-mounted basis. The amendment clarifies a critical definitional matter regarding warranty period commencement as specified in Schedule A, Section 1.4.B of the RFP.
The key clarification provided addresses the distinction between the unit's receipt date and its in-service date for warranty purposes. According to the state's response, the in-service date, which marks the beginning of the warranty period, is defined as the date the unit is accepted by MDOT following completion of the new unit check-in inspection. This is distinctly different from the date the unit is physically received, establishing that warranty coverage does not commence until MDOT has completed its acceptance inspection and formally placed the unit into service.

Bidder’s Question Schedule A, Section 1.4. B states “The warranty period shall start on the date MDOT puts the Unit in-service.” Is the “in-service date” the same as the date that the unit is received by MDOT?
State’s Answer No, the in-service date is not the same as the date of receipt. The in-service date is the date the unit is accepted by MDOT following the new unit check-in inspection.
