DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

The purpose of the South Big Bear Hazardous Fuel Reduction (HFR) IRSC Stewardship contract is to reduce forest fuels and attain both horizontal and vertical fuel separation in forested stands within the treatment units using various techniques of fuel reduction, green tree thinning, and yarding of fuels. Work includes, but is not limited to, all labor, management, supervision, tools, materials, equipment, incidental engineering and transportation necessary to perform the stated purpose of this statement of work and may include, cutting, piling and removal of; standing and downed trees, dead and live brush, limbs and designated live conifers, existing slash and forest debris resulting from current and prior operations and/or events. Potential equipment that will be required to accomplish all work requirements include but are not limited to: rubber tired skidder with grapples and “bull line”, mobile chipper, “small” mobile cable yarder or helicopter, masticators, chainsaws, and directional felling equipment. Road maintenance and road decommissioning are also included as mandatory projects within the project area. The contract will include provisions for timber removal.
