Delete the first paragraph and replace with the following:
Accommodate traffic according to the requirements set forth below and in the MUTCD and Section 635. Submit a traffic control plan for acceptance at least 30 days before intended use.
Add the following project specific requirements.
Two Forest Service contracts will be active concurrently with this project: Dominion Creek Culvert Replacement and East Portal Trailhead Parking Lot Expansion.
The Dominion Creek Culvert project replaces 2 culverts on Dominion Creek Road No. 810 and will be active between July 15 and September 1, 2010. Dominion Trestle crosses NFSR 810 between the 2 culverts. Realizing that the road will need to be closed during some periods of work to minimize hazards, the Forest Service will coordinate road closures as necessary.
The East Portal Trailhead parking lot will be under reconstruction at some point during this contract. It is anticipated most work will occur between October 2010 and june 1011. Access through the parking lot during construction will be coordinated by the Forest Service to accommodate both contracts.
The Contractor will be allowed to close National Forest System Road (NFSR) 810 at the Dominion Creek Trestle as needed in accordance with the approved safety plan. The Forest Service must notify the public 7 days prior to any closure. Place advance warning signs at road intersections above and below the work site as approved by the Contracting Officer.
The Contractor will be allowed to close NFSR 300.1 between the East Portal parking lot and the Dominion Creek Tunnel to all traffic as needed in accordance with the approved safety plan. The Forest Service must notify the public 7 days prior to any closure.
Access to the Milwaukee Railroad grade is at the East Portal Trailhead parking lot. Construction equipment will only be allowed access through the parking lot on weekdays before 10 am and after 4 pm due to heavy public use of the parking lot. Employee passenger vehicles can pass through the parking lot at any time. The access restrictions through the parking lot are lifted between October 2, 2010 and May 15, 2011.
Equipment and material staging will be allowed at wide areas along the railroad grade between Dominion Creek and the East Portal Trailhead (there are at least 5 suitable areas). Additional staging will be allowed on National Forest System land only with CO approval.
Physical road closure devices, and signing, will be installed prior to winter shutdown to prevent access by the public during the winter season.
It is the responsibility of the Contractor to schedule delivery of materials, equipment and all necessary supplies to the site. To ensure that the construction can be completed within the specified contract time. The Contractor is required to provide, install, maintain and remove warning signs and barricades for road closure periods in accordance with the MUTCD and as submitted and approved in the traffic control plan.

203 – REMOVAL OF STRUCTURES AND OBSTRUCTIONS
Description
203.01 Replace this section with the following:
This work consists of removing and disposing of the 168 existing concrete deck ballast boxes (including steel brackets and timber posts) on the Dominion Creek Trestle. This work includes removal of treated timber shoring under the east abutment.
The work also consists of removing and spreading waste ballast from the tunnel and trestle.
Construction requirements
203.03 Salvaging Material.
Add the following:
Do not remove or damage the existing overhead timber towers and cross members.
03.04 Removing Materials.
Add the following:
Concrete removal in the Dominion Creek Tunnel and on the Dominion Creek Trestle abutments is a subsidiary to the respective 552 Structural Concrete repair and patching pay items.
Either remove this concrete from National Forest System (NFS) lands or reduce in size to 6 inches or less and scatter. Any steel or timber which is encountered must be removed from NFS lands. Tunnel concrete must be scattered before ballast is removed and removed with the waste ballast.
Spread waste ballast from the tunnel and trestle at Waste Area 1 or 2 as directed by the CO. Place ballast material by end dumping to the depths directed by the CO. Adjust the moisture content of the material to obtain a mass that will not visibly deflect under the load of the hauling and spreading equipment. Operate compaction equipment over the full width of the cross section until there is no visible evidence of further consolidation. Make at least three complete passes. After leveling and compacting, cover the waste ballast with crushed aggregate surfacing as shown on the drawings and specified in Section 308.
203.05 Disposing of Material.
Add the following to Section (a):
The concrete deck sections can be temporarily stored at several staging areas between the Dominion Creek Tunnel and the East Portal parking lot. The Contracting Officer will designate these areas.

Material
253.02
Add the following:
Talus rock removed as Pay Item 20435 may be used as gabion rock provided it meets the requirements of Section 70501(c)(1). . If needed, the Contacting Officer will designate additional gabion rock source sites on the project.
Construction Requirements 253.03 Replace this section with the following:
Construct gabions as shown on the drawings and at stationing locations to be determined by the Contracting Officer.
263.09 Acceptance.

308.01 This work consists of placing Government furnished aggregate or furnishing and placing crushed aggregate for bedding, backfill and roadway aggregate course.
Material
308.02 Conform to the following Subsections:
| Crushed aggregate | 703.06 | |
| Water | 725.01 |
Construction Requirements
308.03 Preparing Surface. Prepare the roadway surface on which aggregate course is placed as shown on the plans.
