Silvicultural Goal and Desired Condition: The target stand will be to manage the

PP and WL while trying to provide diversity of tree species for the health of the stand. In order to trend this stand towards more PP and WL, these species will be retained at 50% the height of all other crop trees as long as those trees are in good health and vigor. Please refer to the species preference for species order during thinning activities. Any C that is not retained, as a crop tree shall be hedged to 24” in height for big game winter browse. Since there was no WP found on the plots, and there is just a mention of a presence of WP, WP shall be ghosted. Birch and other tall growing shrubs will be ignored unless it is overtopping any crop tree and/or touching any crop tree.

Desired Species Composition T/A:

WL-45 PP-55 DF-137 LP-33 Other-30

Crop tree Selection Criteria: The preferred crop tree shall generally be the tallest, healthiest foliage, most vigorous tree, free of defect or damage due to insect, disease, physical or mechanical causes. There will be a 50% height preference for PP that are shorter than other crop trees, as long as these trees are vigorous, free of defect or damage due to insect, disease, physical or mechanical causes.

Other Desired Contract Results or Requirements: Any Cedar that is not retained, as a crop tree shall be cut to a minimum height of 24”. This will provide for big game winter browse. Allowable numbers of category “C” trees are: C1 through C3= 10 trees/acre; C4 – no trees acceptable over the minimum height; C5 and C6 – included as B3 and B4, girdling and white pine pruning is not required in this unit.

Silvicultural Goal and Desired Condition: The target stand will be to manage the WL and

PP while trying to provide diversity of tree species for the health of this stand. Since there was no

WP found on the plots, and there was just a mention of a presence of WP in the narrative of the exam, WP shall be ghosted. There are PP trees present; PP will be retained at 50% the height of all other crop tree species as long as the PP trees are in good health and vigor. Even though this is a 570 habitat the PP is growing well here and shall be retained in the dryer microsite areas to add more diversity to this stand. Any C that is not retained as a crop tree shall be hedged to 24” in height for big game winter browse. Plots taken during pre-thin exam, did not show a presence of any other tree species, but during the narrative by the examiner it mentions that AF, GF, ES and

WH are present. Please refer to the species preference for species order. Birch and other tall growing shrubs will be ignored unless it is overtopping and/or touching any crop tree.
