QUESTIONS FROM

SITE SHOWING

AG-7217-S-08-0012 (SONIAT CANAL)

APRIL 23, 2008

1. The Sponsor, Jefferson Parish Drainage Department indicated during the site showing that work is being performed by other entities at other locations on this channel. The other work also consists of temporary dams placed across the channel which are designed to breach during large rainfall events. The affect on the work within this solicitation is that if a “small” rainfall event occurs during construction, there will potentially be a time lag of approximately one day for the water elevation to return to normal elevation. The increase in water would be approximately 1 to 2 feet until returning to normal elevation.

2. Will an extension be granted for acquisition of steel sheet piling, as it is getting difficult to obtain?

The performance time of the contract is 108 days.

3. Can vinyl sheet piling be used instead of steel?

No

4. No oak trees are allowed to be trimmed and/or cut on the job. If an oak tree is an issue for the contractor, they need to immediately contact the parish sponsor before taking any action.
