Questions:

Q: On which side of the river will the temporary diversions be constructed?

A: On the side the Forest Service owns. This is shown on Sheet 6 for the Courtois Creek crossing. The Forest Service owns all the land surrounding the Town Branch crossing.

Q: What is the purpose of the rip rap on the top of the temporary diversion bank?

A: Plan shows sand bag to secure plastic liner material; large rock will also be acceptable as a method of ensuring the plastic does not wash away.

Q: Is this a Federal Highway Project?

A: Federal Highway provided the design.

Q: Will native material be allowed for fill?

A: Fill will be as noted in plans and specifications; the fill specifically asked about in this instance was noted as Type 7 in the plans.

Q: Will existing concrete slab be allowable for use as fill?

A: Broken concrete can be incorporated in the project as material provided it meets the specification requirements for the type of material indicated in the plans. All protruding reinforcing steel shall be cut flush with the rock surface prior to placement. Payment for broken concrete utilized as construction material will be considered paid for and completely covered under Items 202-99.01 and 206-99.01. Note that Class 3 rip rap is classified in FP03 section 705 Table 705-1.

Q: Will silt fence be required to completely circle the project site as shown in plans?

A: Erosion control features will be installed in accordance with Contractor furnished erosion control plan once it is approved by the COR. The erosion control features can be modified from the generic temporary erosion control plan as approved by the COR.

Q: When will the contract be awarded?

A: As soon as possible after bid opening.

Q: How will rip rap be paid for?

A: In accordance with the specification section. Rip rap is shown in the plans as a CY quantity. Measurement will be by use of a conversion factor of 1.5 tons/CY based on load tickets supplied from a certified scale. Also see answer on use of broken concrete.

Q: Will licensed land surveyor be required to perform construction surveying?

A: Excerpt from MoDOT EPG will be adhered to. Regardless of the makeup of the survey party, all construction surveying activities within MoDOT right of way must be performed under the supervision of a professional land surveyor (PLS) or a professional engineer (PE).
