Based on the investigation described herein, the preliminary recommended net allowable bearing capacity (ABC) for the soils at a minimum depth of two feet below the existing grade is 2,000 pounds per square foot (PSF) with a Factor of Safety (FOS) of 2.0.
The preliminary recommended net allowable bearing capacity (ABC) for the soils can be increased at a minimum depth of five feet below the existing grade to 3,000 pounds per square foot (PSF) with a Factor of Safety (FOS) of 2.0.
If a higher FOS is selected or required, then divide the ABC by the FOS proportion (if FOS=3.0 then 3,000 / (3.0/2.0) = 2000 PSF). These values were computed with respect to shear strength.
