Statement of Work
Building 9 Epoxy Wall Repair Project
1.0 Background:
The epoxy wall coating used in several of the large animal rooms in building 9 on the
USDA campus in Ames Iowa is starting to crack, separate and peel. This project will include a base bid for installing a fiberglass reinforced epoxy wall system in a small room of building nine as a trial mock up to see if it will work in other parts of the building. The base bid will also include preparation and installation of a new epoxy finish in three of the large animal rooms to reestablish an impermeable seal. If the fiberglass reinforced wall system proves to be an effective sealer, and can be cleaned easily, then the USDA will request option (A) to install the fiberglass reinforced wall coating in one of the large animal rooms. If the product does not meet the USDA’s expectations, the USDA will request option (B) to install a new epoxy wall coating without the fiberglass reinforcement to the room. There are two upcoming building shutdowns scheduled for this year. The first shut down will allow access to room 1090 between September 9th and
September 23rdin late September 2013. The second shutdown will allow access to rooms 1006, 1011, 1016 and 1021 between November 15th 2013 and January 1st
2014.from mid-November through December 2013.
