USDA-NRCS Avon WRP (Rock County, WI) Native Seeding & Cover Treatment

STATEMENT OF WORK

1.1 PROJECT BACKGROUND

The USDA-NRCS is conducting native grassland revegetation and maintenance actions in Avon Township in Rock County.

The native grassland design for this area site will include site preparation, seeding native species in specified areas, and providing post-seeding maintenance (mowing). The cover treatment designed for this area is hand-spraying invasive woody species (basal bark treatment), and some spraying of reed canary grass

1.2 PROJECT LOCATION

The Avon-WRP native seeding & cover treatment area consists of three separate sites. The sites are located in sections 19, 21, 28 and 30 of Avon Township (T1N R10E). The sites are approximately 9 miles southeast of Brodhead, Wisconsin, approximately 6 miles north of Durand, Illinois, and approximately 11 miles west of Beloit, Wisconsin.

1.3 MATERIALS

A. Supply native seeding materials, maintenance tools and equipment as indicated in plans and specifications

B. Certification of materials by NRCS required before installation

1.4 EXECUTION

A. Documentation of pre-planting conference and pre-planting inspection with NRCS

B. Certification of materials Native seed source, PLS

C. Staking and Layout:

1. Staking and layout refers to locating and verifying all planting locations as shown on the plans and specifications.

D. Installation of materials

1. In November (or prior to 3 inches of snow cover) perform site preparation and apply native seed to the areas shown on the Plans and specifications

E. Maintenance

1. In September 2010, perform existing cover maintenance as indicated on plans and specifications.

2. In 2011 and 2012, perform maintenance (field mowing) as indicated in plans and
specifications.

1.5 PROTECTION

All planting materials shall be properly protected against harm from normal weather conditions and the public.

1.8 CLEANUP

Work areas are to be kept clean during progress of work and until completion. Remove surplus materials and rubbish from planting areas. Reclaim access roads and staging areas to pre-seeding conditions after installation and maintenance.
