The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to questions, a revised window schedule and an asbestos report.

Q.1. The currently installed (existing) windows are caulked in. Does this caulk contain asbestos? For bidding purposes, please advise if the contractor is to include funds for asbestos removal.

A.1. Type of caulk is unknown, original installation was done in the 1960s, so the

Government contracted with Front Range Environmental Testing Service for an Asbestos Survey

asbestos removal.

Q.2. Please advise if the government will be removing window coverings and items away from windows so the contractor will have access to the windows on the interior.

A.2. Window covering will be removed prior to work starting

Q.3. Who is responsible for disposal of the windows being removed from the building?

A.3. The Contractor is responsible for removal of all debris

Q.4. During the site visit it was mentioned that the bathrooms inside the building would be available to the contractor replacing the windows

(no Port-O-Potty required). Please confirm.

Q.5. There is currently Ivy growing on the side of the building (near the Vestibule #358 stairs).

It was stated during the site walk that the government would remove the ivy before the project begins. Please confirm.

Q.6. During the site visit, the existing windows to be replaced are fixed, while in the schedule of windows document "CRL Window Schedule

20170209.pdf" the windows style is "Casement".

Please confirm that the new windows shall be fixed similar to the existing ones which need to be replaced.

A.6. The file was incorrect, it has now been corrected to show the Window Style to be Fixed.

The file is to be replaced with "CRL Window

Schedule 20170508.pdf" as part of this amendment.

Q.7. The existing windows has single pane ¼" glass according to the details in document

"1967_Details_20170209", Please confirm that the new windows shall have double pane glazing insulated with Argon.

Item 4. Relevant Documents included the "Glazing

Spec 20170214.pdf". That Section 088000 -

Glazing, at item 1.8 Insulating Glass. A. Glass

Type : Low-E-coated, tinted insulating glass. 1.

Outdoor Lite: Tinted heat strengthened float glass. Tint to match existing. 2. Indoor Lite:

Clear laminated glass with two plies of annealed float glass. 3. Argon filled.

Q.8. In section 088000 and under 1.4-A the performance requirement is engineering design of glass by contractor; please confirm that meeting minimum performance class and grade of F-HC

100/F-AW 100 called for in section 085113/1.2/A/1 is acceptable for the engineering design process of glass.

A.8. The Government anticipates the glazing specification and the window performance product standards will both be met. If a contractor or supplier cannot meet both of these requirements, a question should have been asked about the specific part that cannot be met.

Q.9. Please confirm that the field testing is for air infiltration and water resistance only, the other performance requirements should be certified by the manufacturer.

A.9. Specification Section 085113 - Aluminum

Windows Item 1.4 Field Quality Control. A.

Testing: By Contractor-engaged agency. Does not specify which field tests are required, but air infiltration and water resistance would be the anticipated field tests with the other tests performed by the manufacturer.

Q.10. Section 5/E under Statement of Work, the option to replace 28 window with installing insulated spandrel panel at the lower part of the window with 1" insulated metal interior panel, while in glazing specification sec 088000/1.9, the insulating spandrel panel made of double pane glass and Argon filled. Please provide more clarification on the insulated spandrel panel for the option bid.
