STATEMENT OF WORK

WILLAMETTE NF ROOF REPLACEMENTS

GENERAL

The Willamette National Forest has a need to replace the roofing on six of its facilities.

These facilities include two duplexes (I-J and K-L) at the Detroit Ranger District Compound, and four buildings on the McKenzie River Ranger District Administrative and Horse Creek Work Center Compounds. Specific information for each facility is as follows:

Location

These two duplexes are located on the Detroit Ranger District Compound. The Detroit Ranger District Compound can be reached by traveling east from Interstate 5, take Exit 253 toward Stayton/Detroit Lake. Turn right onto OR-22 E, N Santiam Highway. Travel approximately 47 miles to the Detroit Ranger Station. The Detroit Ranger Station is located at 14425 N Santiam Hwy SE, Detroit, OR 97342.

Description

Duplexes I-J and K-L are similar buildings in geometry. These duplexes are used for employee housing periodically throughout the year and are fully occupied during the summer months. Both structures have an approximate pitch of 6:12 and the existing roofing material is 3-tab asphalt shingles. The approximate area of each roof structure is 2670 square feet.

Note that existing gutters are in good condition, but are attached such that snow shed from metal roofing will damage them. Mitigation of this is covered under “Required Work”.

Required Work

The Contractor shall remove the existing 3-tab asphalt shingle roof in accordance with Section 073120 of the Specifications. Replace all damaged or rotted roof sheathing with like-material and construct in accordance with industry standards.

The Contractor shall re-position all gutters on structures by lowering and/or angling them to allow for snow shed without damage to the gutters.

The Contractor shall re-roof the entire structure with new standing seam metal roof in accordance with Section 074110 of the Specifications.

Install a total of 2 fall protection anchors on the ridgeline in locations identified by the CO in accordance with Section 074110 of the Specifications.

MCKENZIE RIVER RANGER DISTRICT

HORSE CREEK STORAGE SHED

BUILDING (BLDG) 2805

From I-5, merge onto State Highway 126 East via Exit 194A towards Springfield. Continue traveling East on OR-126 for approximately 50 miles to the town of McKenzie Bridge. At approximately MP 50.5, turn right onto Horse Creek Rd. This building is located at the Horse Creek Work Center Compound. The address is 91783 Horse Creek Rd., McKenzie Bridge, OR 974143.

Description

This building is located at the Horse Creek Work Center Compound. Although it sits out of the way of much of the activity, there may be Forest Service personnel in the area. The roof has an 8:12 pitch and the existing roofing material is 3-tab asphalt shingles. The approximate area of the roof structure is 246 square feet. This is an historical structure and cannot be extensively modified with alternative roofing materials.

Required Work

The Contractor shall remove the existing 3-tab asphalt shingle roof in accordance with Section 073120 of the Specifications. Replace all damaged or rotted roof sheathing with like-material and construct in accordance with industry standards.

The Contractor shall re-roof the entire structure with new architectural asphalt shingles in accordance with Section 073110 of the Specifications.

Install a total of 1 fall protection anchors on the ridgeline in locations identified by the CO in accordance with Section 073110 of the Specifications.

HORSE CREEK PUMP HOUSE

From I-5, merge onto State Highway 126 East via Exit 194A towards Springfield. Continue traveling East on OR-126 for approximately 50 miles to the town of McKenzie Bridge. At approximately MP 50.5, turn right onto Horse Creek Rd. This building is located at the Horse Creek Work Center Compound. The address is 91783 Horse Creek Rd., McKenzie Bridge, OR 974143.

Description

This pump house is located at the Horse Creek Work Center along the main compound travel lane where there may be Forest Service activity. The roof has a pitch of approximately 6:12 and the current roofing material is 3-tab asphalt shingles. The approximate area of the roof structure is 540 square feet.

Required Work

The Contractor shall remove the existing 3-tab asphalt shingle roof in accordance with Section 073120 of the Specifications. Replace all damaged or rotted roof sheathing with like-material and construct in accordance with industry standards.

The Contractor shall re-roof the entire structure with new standing seam metal roof in accordance with Section 074110 of the Specifications.

Install a total of 2 fall protection anchors on the ridgeline in locations identified by the CO

HORSE CREEK OPEN STORAGE BUILDING

Gable End Roof Structure

From I-5, merge onto State Highway 126 East via Exit 194A towards Springfield. Continue traveling East on OR-126 for approximately 50 miles to the town of McKenzie Bridge. At approximately MP 50.5, turn right onto Horse Creek Rd. This building is located at the Horse Creek Work Center Compound. The address is 91783 Horse Creek Rd., McKenzie Bridge, OR 974143. The open storage building is located adjacent to the Horse Creek pump house.

Description

This building is used for storage and is gated for security. It is also located near the main compound travel lane for the work center and may experience periodic traffic and activity.

The roof has a pitch of approximately 6:12 and the existing roofing material is galvanized metal steel. The roof area is approximately 1990 square feet.

Required Work

The Contractor shall remove the existing galvanized steel roof in accordance with Section 073120 of the Specifications. Replace all damaged or rotted purlins with like-material and construct in accordance with industry standards.

The Contractor shall re-roof the entire structure with new standing seam metal roof in accordance with Section 074110 of the Specifications, excluding the application of 30lb felt.

MCKENZIE RIVER COMPOUND WATER STORAGE BUILDING

From Interstate 5, take State Highway 126 east, toward McKenzie Bridge. Travel approximately 57 miles to the McKenzie River Ranger Station. The ranger station is located at 57600 McKenzie River Highway (State Highway 126), McKenzie Bridge, OR.

Description

This water storage building is used for the water supply of the McKenzie River District compound. The roof has a pitch of approximately 6:12 and the existing roofing material is 3-tab asphalt shingles. The approximate area of the roof structure is 540 square feet.

Required Work

The Contractor shall remove the existing 3-tab asphalt shingle roof in accordance with Section 073120 of the Specifications. Replace all damaged or rotted roof sheathing with like-material and construct in accordance with industry standards.

The Contractor shall re-roof the entire structure with new standing seam metal roof in accordance with Section 074110 of the Specifications.

CONCLUSION

Prior to starting any work on this project, the Contractor shall develop and submit to the Contracting Office, a Safety Plan specific for each location. The Safety Plan shall adhere to all State or Federal OSHA regulations, whichever is more stringent. The Safety Plan shall also include a description for all flagging, signage and other means to ensure the safety of employees and traffic around the Project Sites.
