About this file

Addendum No. 2 for the MVP Arena Sound System Upgrade is issued by Albany County Department of General Services on June 20, 2025, for Request for Bids (RFB) 2025-093. The addendum addresses vendor questions regarding the sound system upgrade project, specifically focusing on speaker removal, re-wiring, and conduit requirements. The document provides clarification on the existing main and two delay clusters that will be removed, and details the limited scope of re-wiring existing speakers primarily in the amp room(s).

The addendum resolves three key vendor inquiries: (1) confirming the extent of speaker and conduit removal, (2) noting that a referenced specification section (260529) is not applicable to the project, and (3) specifying that RMC (Rigid Metal Conduit) is only required in the loading dock areas on the west side of the building in quadrants 3 & 4. The document includes photographs of the existing speaker clusters and hoists to provide visual context for bidders. The addendum emphasizes that the project involves an operational system, which limited the amount of forensic investigation possible during preparation.

June 20, 2025

The following Addendum No. 2 consisting of Six (6) pages (including this cover page) is hereby issued on the 20th day of June 2025, in connection with the Request for Bids 2025-093 as requested by Albany County Department of General Services.

MVP Arena Sound System Upgrade

ADDENDUM # 2

The following information is provided as a result of a question(s) posed by vendor(s):

ITEM #1: The drawings have notes stating speakers are either being removed or re-wired. Contractors will need quantities and locations of these speakers to properly quantify and estimate this work. Also, it was brought up during the site visit about removal of all conduits and wire of the existing system, which would also further the need for having locations and quantities of the existing system to give contractors an idea of where the existing conduits are run.

Please advise.

Response #1: The existing main and two delay clusters are being removed. The re-wiring of existing speakers (concourse and suites predominantly) takes places only in the amp room(s). As this is (and remains) an operational system the amount of forensic investigation was somewhat limited. To the best of our knowledge all work is shown in the drawings.

The required removal of conduits and existing wiring is limited in the drawings to the existing main and delay clusters and associated speaker hoists. A few pictures of the existing clusters and hoists are included below.

ITEM #2: Spec. section 260529 Part 3.2 G States to provide required vibration isolation and or seismic controls, see section 260548. This spec. section does not appear to be included within the RFP documents. Please advise.

Response #2: Referenced specification section is not part of the project, the reference to

260529 Part 3.2 G does not apply to this project.

ITEM #3: Spec. section 260533.13 Part 2.1 G indicates that within high traffic and warehouse areas, where exposed below 8’, to use RMC conduits. It seems that much of the arena level could fall under this category. Could a list of areas requiring RMC conduit below 8’ be provided?

AD6

Response #3: RMC conduit is only required in the loading dock areas on the west side of the building in quadrants 3 & 4. RMC is not required in the convention center area of quadrant 3 or the locker room area of quadrant 4.
