About this file

This is Addendum No. 1 to the bid documents for the LP Wilson Community Center Board of Education Restroom Renovations project located at 601 Matianuck Ave, Windsor, Connecticut. The addendum, issued January 21, 2026, provides clarifications and responses to 23 bidder questions regarding the restroom renovation scope of work at the facility. Key clarifications include specifications for cabinet heaters (Beacon Morris Convectors type SR-A Semi-recessed), waste line removal and installation procedures with new lines to be tied to existing mains, toilet partition basis of design by Knickerbocker in HDPE without fire-rating requirements, lighting fixture schedules (type C cove lights per revised EL-101), and wall-mounted water closet specifications (KOHLER K-4325). Additional project details address insulation materials (fiberglass with jacket by Owens Corning), countertop specifications (Corian Solid surface in Canyon color), new wall heights extending to roof deck (approximately 10 to 11 feet), and ceiling tile requirements (Tegular tiles). The addendum confirms that town permit fees are waived, builder's risk insurance is not required, no liquidated damages apply, and there are no CHRO requirements for the project.

The addendum establishes that the mechanical contractor is responsible for testing, adjusting, and balancing of unit heaters, with the main heating feed located above ceiling in corridors to be verified in field. Contractors are required to x-ray slabs before cutting to identify underground utilities and avoid damage. A unit price of $______ per 3 feet of waste line installed is requested for potential change order scenarios where tie-in locations extend beyond the restrooms area. The State of Connecticut will assess a Code Training and Education Fund fee of $0.26 per $1,000 of construction value on the local building permit. Responsibility for hazardous material handling will be assigned to the Town of Windsor, with contractor testing, monitoring, and abatement functions identified. All bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this addendum on their bid forms and reflect the specified changes in their submitted bids, with a note that additional compensation or change orders will not be granted after contract award due to bidder omissions.
