• 232113 – Hydronic Piping o Clarified hydronic piping materials for 4-pipe system

• 283200 - Addressable Fire Alarm System – Voice o Spec modified to replace existing Fire Alarm complete and to be apart of the base bid.

CONTRACTOR RFIs:

1) In the special conditions of the specs, section 4: Times of Completion, is says construction activities may begin on 6/1/2026 with a substantial completion of 8/5/26 and final completion is

8/12/26. Typically on a school renovation work will begin on night or weekend shifts months prior to summer break to allow contractors to get piping and conduit work in place ahead of time. Or exterior underground work could be installed. With only 9 ½ weeks from start to substantial completion I don’t think the MEP contractors will have enough time to perform all the work in this project. I understand the facility has to be used for education of the student until the end of the school year but there should be opportunities for work to take place over Christmas break, spring break, weekends, or other periods the students are not inside the building. Could some type of plan be discussed or incorporated prior to the bid date? Or would this just have to be figured out once the low bidder is awarded? Once the low bidder is awarded, it is up to the general contractor to address scheduling in regard to substantial completion for the project.

2) I was checking to see if your company is looking after the rooftop equipment or if that would be the responsibility of the HVAC/mechanical sub at time of award? The scope of work to handle the rooftop equipment is to be handled through the contractor that is bidding and awarded the project.

3) Do the existing concrete housekeeping pads under the air handlers need to be demoed? Hex note D19 only called out on 1 pad. Does AHU 1 need a new concrete pad? The concrete pads on

Renovation Project Number 540CBXLSD6301

Addendum #2

Kentucky School For The Deaf – Kerr Hall Renovation Project

Addendum #2 the west side of the mechanical room will need to be demoed. The concrete pad on the east side of the mechanical room is to remain as new boilers will sit upon the existing pad. A new concrete pad will be needed for AHU-1.

4) Can you confirm if this verbiage from the special conditions is correct. The verbiage below does not apply to Kerr Hall.

• Can you provide the subcontractor that holds the roof warranty per sheet A-108K? Deerpark is the roofing contractor that did upgrades in 2023 and current basis of contact.

• Will Temporary Heat Detectors be required where ceilings are removed? Smoke detectors will be required where ceilings are to be removed.

5) Will any new reflective ceiling plans be issued to reflect what actually needs to be removed and replaced? Or do we just need to make our best guess? Any acoustical ceiling guys or demo contractors who only bid off the drawings will get it wrong. Where mechanical and electrical demolition and new work is to occur, the ceiling demolition and new work is to accommodate the mechanical and electrical scope of work. A conformed set will be issued to accurately represent the reflective ceiling plans.

6) On page 394 of the download (specs and plans), it is called out in the Hydronic Piping section for a “Heat Pump Loop Piping” of PE pipe with copper runouts or Installation Ready ™ fittings. I typically see this in something utilizing a geo loop, but I see no geo loop on this project. I just wanted to make sure that this isn’t intended for use with the 4-pipe system you seem to show on the plans and that the Vic/Copper mains and Copper/Threaded runouts are what is intended.

There is no geothermal loop on this project. The hydronic piping section has been revised to reflect 4-pipe system loop.

7) Spec section 28 FA 1.2 B says that system and equipment programming shall be priced as an allowance to the contract. The special conditions section 8 allowances says N/A. Please clarify if

JCI needs to provide an allowance cost or how to properly bid. This section in 283200 -

Addressable Fire Alarm System – Voice has been omitted and does not apply.

8) Contractors are to refer to the “or equal” clause in the general conditions for approved manufacturers in regards to all disciplines for selections.
