About this file
This document is an addendum to a bid solicitation for the Timberline Pump Station project issued by the City of Young Harris, Georgia. The addendum modifies the original bid documents, drawings, and specifications. Key details include:
The bid number is 2023-ITB-02, and the project involves installing a new pump station and related water infrastructure along Timberline Drive. The addendum addresses questions raised at the prebid meeting, including the use of wet taps or cut-ins, the existing pipe materials, and the compatibility of the existing pump with the new tank. It also provides revisions to the electrical plans, pump station details, pipe clearances, and valve and bypass line locations. The bid date and time remain unchanged.
The addendum specifies the contractor must coordinate with the City of Young Harris Water Department, have a utility contractor license, and complete the pipeline installations within a 4-hour window on two separate days to limit service disruptions. Pipe materials, fittings, and assembly must be verified prior to excavation. Ductile iron pipe is required for above-ground and in-slab portions of Tank No. 2.

Addendum 1.
Timberline Pump Station
Oct. 20th, 2023
City of Young Harris Bid Number 2023-ITB-02
The items in this addendum modify the documents, drawings, and specifications released at the time of advertisement for bids and available on Hussey Gay Bells EGNYTE web site. Prebid Meeting Questions
1. Can the contractor use wet taps or cut ins (tees)?
Contractor shall at the beginning of the project before any excavation work with and coordinate with the City of Young Harris Water Department to locate isolation line valves on the 6-inch water main along Timberline Drive. To the knowledge of the Engineer there MAYBE isolation valves at pump station #2 and at the intersection of Timberline
Drive and Main Street (US HWY 76). Because of the need to install line valves and tees wet taps are not allowed. See Drawings C-04 and C-09. Means and methods should be used to limit the out of service time to 4 hours on two different days.
2. What is the existing water line pipe type?
The Contractor is responsible for carefully excavating the existing 6-inch and 4-inch pipe at the locations of connections as shown on C-04 and C-09 and determine the pipe material! City records show that the 6-inch pipe is PVC-SDR-16 Class 200 psi -C900; the
4-inch pipe is National 1185 611 CTS DR25 PVC1120 PC100-T400 at 73 degrees AWWA
C-900. The contractor should consider all existing pipe as brittle and under continuous service.
3. Will the existing pump operate properly with head from the Tank No.2? Yes. At 6.5 psi?
Existing pump station operates with an influent pressure of 15 psi when the College
Storage Tank is full.
4. Will a utility contractor license be required?
Yes
5. Will there be permit fees for electrical?
No
6. Will the tank/water freeze under temperature conditions? Per the manufacturers representation the double walled HDPE tank is rated at -20 degrees Fahrenheit against structural failure.
