About this file
This is Addendum No. 2 to a request for competitive bids issued by Bedford County Public Schools for wastewater system improvements at Stewartsville Elementary School and Otter River Elementary School. The addendum, dated May 18, 2026, clarifies two significant project modifications. First, to expedite critical equipment delivery, Bedford County Public Schools will procure and provide the contractor with specified dosing and recirculation pumps, control panels, and transducers for both school locations. Equipment for Stewartsville includes three Goulds WS0512B sewage pumps, two Franklin 20JE05P42W230 submersible pumps, two SJ Rhombus control panels, and three SJ Rhombus transducer level sensors. Equipment for Otter River includes two Goulds WS0512B sewage pumps, one Franklin 20JE05P42W230 submersible pump, two SJ Rhombus control panels, and two SJ Rhombus transducer level sensors, with all equipment anticipated to arrive within three weeks of the addendum date. Electronic bids remain due by 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 21, 2026, directed to taylor.bell@bedford.k12.va.us, with work commencing June 1, 2026, and operational readiness required by August 1, 2026.
The second clarification specifies that 501-Filter Sand from Vulcan Materials' Puddledock facility should be used for the project filters, with the option to source sand from a closer Vulcan Materials facility if it meets the 501-Filter Sand specifications. Contact information for Vulcan Materials representatives Chris Melton and Keith Crone is provided to facilitate material procurement. The addendum does not address pricing, set-asides, incumbents, or funding sources, as these matters were established in the original solicitation documents.
