About this file
Addendum 2 for RFP 102-263 is issued by Isothermal Community College, detailing specifications for a campus-wide access control system project. The addendum provides comprehensive specifications for 13 buildings across the college's Spindale and Polk campuses, including detailed quantities of Verkada access control equipment such as door readers (AD34-HW), door licenses (LIC-AC-1Y-CAP), door position switches, access controllers (ranging from 4-door AC42-HW to 16-door AC62-HW), and backup batteries. The document responds to 11 specific vendor questions, clarifying requirements such as door contacts, electric locks, and the incorporation of existing ADA buttons into the new system. Each building's specifications are meticulously outlined, with quantities ranging from 1 to 9 door readers per location and corresponding access controllers.
The addendum specifies that all access control panels must be capable of handling at least 4 card readers, with a preference for future expansion capabilities. The project involves replacing existing AD400 wireless locks and requires vendors to cover holes left by removed locks, reuse existing electric latch retractions and strikes where applicable, and integrate all ADA buttons into the new access control system. While pricing details are not included in this addendum, the specifications suggest a comprehensive, standardized approach using Verkada equipment across the campus. The project appears to prioritize security enhancement, flexibility, and potential future growth, with a clear emphasis on providing a uniform access control solution that can be centrally managed across multiple campus buildings.

ADDENDUM 2
RFP 102-263 – Campus-Wide Access Control
March 24, 2025
Questions submitted and responses listed below as follows:
1. The Bill of Materials shown on the plans enclosed in the RFP do not match the Bill of Materials shown on pages 12 – 14 of the same. The plans are more closely aligned with the way the project was discussed during the Site Visit. Please confirm the plans are the correct representation of what is required.
Response: Please review the updated specifications per building in this addendum 2, these revisions align with the project discussed during the site visit. A door position switch (DPS) has been included in the specifications for each building.
2. Please confirm that Door Contacts are required for each leaf of every door that will have new card readers installed.
Response: Yes, we want a door position switch (DPS) for each exterior door with the exception of the Pool Door in the Student Center, the Engineering Technology Workforce Development building already has the DPS installed for all exterior doors.
3. Please confirm that Passive Infra-red Request to Exit devices are required for each door that will have new card readers installed.
Response: No, we don't want to have a “Request to Exit”.
4. Please confirm that an Electric Lock is required at every door where an AD400 wireless lock is removed.
Response: Yes, it is required where ALL AD400 and AD993 exit trim
5. Please confirm that a mortise lever mechanical set is required at every door where an AD400 wireless lock is removed.
Response: Yes, only in AD400’s; the AD933 exit trim door on construction trades will be a powered panic bar.
6. Please confirm that all holes left by the removal of AD400 wireless lock must be covered by the contractor.
Response: Yes, the vendor will be responsible for covering all holes left on each AD400 wireless door lock.
7. Please confirm that Electric Latch Retraction set are to be re-used where currently installed.
Response: Yes, just exterior doors only.
8. Please confirm that Electric Rim Strikes are to be re-used where currently installed.
Response: Yes
9. Please confirm that Electric Door Strikes are to be re-used where currently installed.
Response: Yes
10. Please confirm that the RFP calls for all newly installed Access Control Panels to be able to handle at least 4 card readers.
Response: Yes, that is correct. If the blueprints show only one door for the building, we should opt for a 4-door controller at a minimum to allow for future expansion.
11. Please confirm that all existing ADA buttons and door openers must be incorporated with the new access control system.
Response: Yes, that is correct. ALL ADA buttons and doors need to be incorporated with the new access control system.
