About this file
Addendum #2 is a contract document for the Menominee River Recreation Area – Piers Gorge Access project, issued by Sanders & Czapski Associates, PLLC on behalf of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources located in Norway, Michigan. The addendum revises and clarifies information in the original project manual and drawings, specifically addressing permit requirements, site access, and construction details for a boardwalk and FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) bridge in a sensitive environmental area. The document indicates that an EGLE (Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy) permit is pending and provides interim guidelines for contractors regarding equipment movement, soil disposal, and wetland preservation.
The addendum requires the contractor to secure a "Work in Right-of-way Permit" from the Dickinson County Road Commission and details specific environmental protections, such as using track (bog) mats to minimize ground disturbance and ensuring excess soils are disposed of in upland areas. The project involves constructing a boardwalk and bridge across an area with wetlands and an intermittent stream, with careful consideration for minimizing environmental impact. The contractor will be responsible for maintaining existing trails, managing equipment traffic, and following strict guidelines to protect the natural landscape during construction.
