About this file

This document is an addendum to the Invitation to Bid for the Re-Roof Kedron Fieldhouse project issued by the City of Peachtree City in Georgia. The project involves the re-roofing of the Kedron Fieldhouse & Aquatic Center, including selective demolition and replacement of flashing, trim, fascia, rakes, gutters, downspouts, and accessories. The bidding is open to all qualified contractors who attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting. The city is open to shifting the public entrance to the facility during construction, as long as the shifts are planned and approved in advance. There is a city-wide event scheduled at the Kedron location on September 27, which may be a date when the contractor is not allowed to work.

The city has rejected requests for manufacturer substitutions, as the proposed products do not match the bid specifications. The city has also clarified that the roofing work shall not interfere with the installation, operation, or removal of the "bubble" structure, which is typically installed in early October. The city is open to discussing the construction schedule with the winning contractor to accommodate this schedule.

ADDENDUM #1

QUESTION: Is this bid a small business set aside? Or open to all.

CITY’S RESPONSE: Bidding is open to all qualified contractors who attend the mandatory pre-bid meeting.

CLARIFICATION: Typically, the air structure, called “The Bubble”, is installed in early October.

QUESTION: Will contractor be allowed to store materials onsite?

CITY’S RESPONSE: Some material storage onsite can be arranged. Any material storage areas would need to be returned to their pre-existing conditions (vegetation replaced, pavement repaired) before the project is completed.

QUESTION: Has the city successfully had 18-wheelers deliver and turn around at Kedron?

CITY’S RESPONSE: Yes, large trucks can navigate to the building for material delivery and return to the roadway.

QUESTION: If large trucks are not an option, can the city approve contractor to run panels on site?

CITY’S RESPONSE: No, panels specified for this project may not be manufactured onsite.

QUESTION: Was there a specific reason the city chose to re-roof rather than go with a coating?

CITY’S RESPONSE: The City’s commissioned architect recommended re-roofing.

QUESTION: Regarding the reuse of gutters - bid document states “reuse if applicable.”

Will city staff clarify?

CITY’S RESPONSE: The contractor shall install new gutters and downspouts on all sections of the roof as noted on sheet A210.

QUESTION: City staff made clear the intent to keep the building open at all times. Will the city consider closing off one of two entrances/exits if there are safety concerns?

CITY’S RESPONSE: To clarify, the City is open to shifting the public entrance to the facility during construction as long as the shifts are planned and approved in advance and do not cause undue confusion for the public. At all times it will be up to the contractor to provide clear and safe passage through the work site to the current entrance and maintain adequate fire exits from the building.

CLARIFICATION: Friday, September 27 is a city-wide event at the Kedron location.

Between 10 am – 2 pm city staff will rotate through Kedron. This may be a date when the contractor is not allowed to work. This no-work day can be considered when issuing the Notice to Proceed.

QUESTION: We would like to request manufacturer substitution approval for MBCI in lieu of Pac Clad (basis of design). The proposed MBCI product line that meets design specifications is SuperLok.

CITY’S RESPONSE: This product has been reviewed and rejected by the City’s consulting architect. The panel profile does not match bid specifications.

QUESTION: Berridge Manufacturing Company respectfully requests your approval of our Double-Lock Zee-Lock roof panel CITY’S RESPONSE: This product has been reviewed and rejected by the City’s consulting architect. The panel profile does not match bid specifications.

QUESTION: ACI Building Systems request for approval as a Metal Roof panel provider for the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center Re-Roof Project.

CITY’S RESPONSE: This product has been reviewed and rejected by the City’s consulting architect. The panel profile does not match bid specifications.

QUESTION: It was mentioned that the facility is to remain open during the renovation, but also that the pool “bubble” is constructed around early October. Would it be possible to expedite the construction start date so that we would be able to miss the time frame that the pool is shut down for 2 weeks to undergo this process?

CITY’S RESPONSE: The roofing work shall not interfere with the installation, operation, or removal of the bubble. However, once the contract is awarded the winning contractor can discuss the construction schedule with the City.
